Currently Halcyon takes hostname and resolves it's SRV DNS record irrespectively if it's a domain/vhost (in which case it should do it) or if it's hostname (manual configuration or see-other-host result).

It should be possible to configure hostname and domain name separately and not resolve hostnames and use them directly to establish connection.
