Halcyon has support for connecting to the XMPP server using StartTLS. With a small change (mainly DNS resolution and support for starting TLS on establishing connection to the server), it is possible to add support for DirectTLS that would reduce no. of round trips improving reconnection speed over slow and unreliable networks.
