Justifying text results in weird display (#65)

I'm not sure that justifying chat text is a good solution - it results in really weird spacing on longer messages.

%wojtek I can disable it but without justifying it also looks weird to me.

I am not in favor of changing this right now. The best way to handle this (for the next version) would be to see different formatting ways and decide which one is best. Also, see how others do it and learn from them. Simply disabling justification is not a good solution because it may also not look good.

OK, "picture something something words". This is how it looks for me - sometimes it looks more or less ok (justification1) sometimes it looks really weird (justification2). And while the second example may seem really synthetic in a couple of private chats I run into the same problem where in 5 line I had 2 which had like 1-2 words with huge spacing.

Now, I've mentioned it because:

  • it looks weird (may be a problem of my narrow screen);

  • and majority of applications use left-aligned text (whatsapp, telegram, messages on ios, messages on macos, Psi on macos, skype on ios, skype on macos). [%kobit]

Hence I quite baffled why would left-aligned text look be unknown or look weird.

@Wojciech - I agree. Left aligned text might be a good approach.

I would actually be in favor of having an option on how to display text but I really do not want to overcomplicate the app with too many options and settings. So I leave it up to Andrzej to decide.

Seeing you examples and knowing that you use it on a small screen device, I've decided to check how it looks aligned to the left. And it looks better on small screen devices and looks ok on the devices with a bigger screen (less wrapping is done in this case). Due to that I've decided to change text alignment to the left for:

  • sent/received messages in 1-1 chat

  • sent/received messages in MUC rooms

  • last messages displayed in the chats list (recents)

Looks much better (IMHO). Thank you.
