Responded to the use via email: Hi Mike, We have received your email with a question about Tigase iOS Messenger: I'm using Tigase messenger with a standard XMPP server but for some reason it always seems to disconnect in the background and not receive standard push notifications. Is there any special setup I need to do? The server supports standard implementation of XMPP push. Unfortunately, Tigase iOS Messenger (as any other iOS application) cannot be running in the background for longer than 180 seconds. This limit is applied to the application by iOS operating system. Normally Tigase iOS Messenger should be able to receive push notifications, but as this requires sending notifications from your XMPP server to our Push Notifications server over S2S connection due to privacy reasons this feature is not enabled by default. To enable that you need to:
If you will leave this dialog after this process is completed and the toggle will switch to "off" state (or it will be in the "off" state when you reenter in the account settings view) it means that there were some issues with enabling Push Notifications - most likely some connectivity issues or glitches on S2S connection between your XMPP server and our XMPP-Push Notification server hosted at "push.tigase.im". If you have some desktop XMPP client with discovery capabilities you may try to browse services available at tigase.im or push.tigase.im to verify that S2S connection between those two XMPP servers works properly. If you will have any additional question, please ask them. Our issue tracker for Tigase iOS Messenger is available at https://tigase.tech/projects/tigase-ios-messenger/issues if you would like to use it. |
