[2020-03-17 13:28:55] besides having to use @ for mentions I have trouble using it in rooms with a few users as autocomplete does odd thinks. if I want to mention the milkman bot I end up with a user name like @Anox and correcting that autocomplete mistake is impossible as whenever I type @ „mil“ it autocompletes to sth else. this is reproducible in this channel here. user *IM gets suggested. is this a known problem?
Indeed there is an issue with mentioning (it mostly seems to suggest something completely random and unrelated) which makes this feature quite difficult do use. I think that autocomplete should not correct/change what we already typed and only provide suggestions that matches already entered letters with list of suggestions being filtered each time.
In addition - given that @ serves as a handle for mentioning - maybe we should show list of suggestions right after it (or after 2 letters typed)? Currently it seems it requires 2 letters.
