Personal Access Token regeneration not clearly evident during repository workflow (SZ-103)
rk@tigase.net opened 1 week ago

Type

UX / Discoverability improvement

Severity

Low

Description

Personal Access Tokens (PATs) can be generated via:

User dropdown => Tokens => Generate new PAT

However, this is not obvious during the repository creation or cloning workflow.

If a user misses the token during repository creation, there is no contextual hint or guidance indicating that a new token can be generated later from the User menu.

This may lead to confusion or the impression that repository access is permanently lost.

Current Behavior

  • PAT generation exists under User => Tokens.
  • No contextual guidance is shown during repository creation or cloning instructions.

Expected Improvement

Add contextual guidance in one of the following places:

  • Repository creation success screen
  • Clone instructions panel
  • Error message when authentication fails

Example guidance:

"If you need a new Personal Access Token, go to:
User => Tokens => Generate new PAT"

Acceptance Criteria

  • Users can easily discover how to regenerate a PAT.
  • No changes required to backend logic.
  • Pure UI/documentation improvement.
